IMO 7.11 Basic Training for Ships Operating in Polar Waters Relevant for It is relevant for mariners on board ships operating in ice infested waters for instance the Bay of Bothnia, Saint Lawrence River and The Great Lakes. It could also be relevant for anyone interested in how to operate ships in polar waters or ice infested waters. This could include Ship Managers, Technical Superintendents, Technical Staff, Marine Engineers, shore-based personnel; etc. Level Basic Duration 1-2 Workdays Technical requirements Internet connection Admission requirements Online training This online training course can be taken at your own pace, with the possibility to enter and exit the course as often as you require. You have 90 days to complete your training course counting from the day your license key is activated on the platform. The training course includes small tests after each lesson, eliminating the need for a final, conclusive test. When you have passed all tests, a digital certificate will be generated immediately and issued on the NavSkills™ Online platform. The certificate expires after 5 years. This course is a requirement for Masters, Chief Mates, and Officers in charge of a navigational watch on board ships operating in polar waters.Course Details
The trainee must hold a certificate as Master, Chief Mate, or Officer in charge of a navigation watch qualified in accordance with regulations II/1, II/2 and II/3 of the STCW Convention, respectively or equivalent as determined by the national administration.
